Garowe says ending ties with Mogadishu state of Somalia Puntland president Abdiweli Ali Gas has said his administration has cut ties with the central government in Mogadishu.

Speaking to the press after an emergency meeting with his cabinet Abdiweli said the decision was taken after the agreement which was signed in the capital Mogadishu to create an interim administration for a new regional state for Galgadud and Mudug in central Somalia.

He said the agreement which was witnessed by the both the Somali president and the prime minister was unconstitutional saying his administration is not ready to welcome the establishment of the new regional state.

President Abdiweli gave an ultimatum of 15 days to the representatives from his administration in central government in Mogadishu to return home as soon as possible.

This new move by president Abdiweli is expected to create new tension between the central government and semi autonomous regional state.
