Four killed in gun battle in southern Somalia
MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least four people were killed in fighting broke out between military forces and local armed militias [Ma’awisley] near Adalle town in southern Somalia.
Scores of people, including both soldiers and militias were also wounded in skirmish, said, a witness, who asked to be anonymous.
He says a Somali military official, whose name has not been released yet was also among the victims.
It is unclear the cause of the fighting.
Ma’awisley is a local armed group in the region. It is formed to fighting against an al Qaeda linked al Shabaab.
It has also been a local partner for the country’s army forces to defeat the terror group.
Somali military was unavailable to comment on the clash.
The clash has subsided while both sides were regrouping, he added.
Reliable source say at least nine people, including seven soldiers were wounded in the battle.
Some seriously wounded people were reportedly taken into the capital, Mogadishu.
Tension between both sides are reportedly building up high the area as local residents expressed concern over the scared situation.
