Former Somali MP shot dead by Al Shabaab in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU – Unknown gunmen have shot and killed Former Somali Member of Parliament, Hussein Geddi Jim’alle on Wednesday in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.

The victim was gunned down by young men armed with pistols while sitting near his home in the city’s Howlwadag area, a witness Faisa Mohamed said.

Mohamed says the killers escaped from the crime scene uncaught as dozens of security forces arrived at the area, and launched manhunts.

Somali-based group of Al Shabaab claimed to have been responsible for the assassination.

The group says its assassins had killed former country’s lawmaker, Hussein Geddi in Somali capital Mogadishu.

“We will continue targeting lawmakers, officials, soldiers and delegates”, the group said.

Mogadishu has been witnessed orchestrated assassinations and suicide bombings, which left dozens of people dead, as some those attacks were claimed by Al Shabaab group based in Somalia.
