MOGADISHU – Former President of Somalia, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, met with the United States Ambassador to Somalia, Richard Riley, in Mogadishu.
The meeting focused on Somalia’s political and security landscape and the need to advance the state-building process.
Sheikh Sharif thanked the U.S. government for its continued support to Somalia in the areas of security, counterterrorism and humanitarian assistance.
He emphasized the importance of sustained international cooperation in Somalia’s journey toward peace and progress.
The meeting is part of efforts to boost unity among Somali leaders ahead of key elections and governance reforms.
The U.S. reaffirmed its support for Somalia’s democratic process and institution-building amid ongoing political challenges.
