Five soldiers killed in bomb attack claimed by al Shabaab 

MOGADISHU, Somalia – A roadside bomb explosion has ripped through a Somali military vehicle carrying soldiers near Barire town, some 60km west of the capital Mogadishu.

The explosion has partially destroyed a military vehicle, a witness said.

Somali armed group al Shabaab has claimed the responsibility for Wednesday’s explosion.

The group says it has killed five soldiers on board.

Somali military remains unavailable to comment on the bomb attack.

Al Shabaab, an al Qaeda linked group, which wants topple the weak-western backed government based in Mogadishu.

The group has been fighting against the Somali army and African Union troops for more than ten years.
