Ex-head of the notorious “Jail Ogaden arrested in Somalia

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali forces have arrested an ex-head of the notorious “Jail Ogaden” Hassan Ismail Ibrahim in Goldogob town of central Somalia.

 Jail Ogaden detention centre in Jigjiga, capital of the Somali region is where hundreds of prisoners were tortured and abused, including rape, sleep deprivation, and beatings.

Ethiopia’s government closed the facility last year in a response to the human rights violations.

Ibrahim was handed over to Ethiopian authorities.
