EU, Somalia sign €42M deal for roads construction

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The European Union (EU) jointly with the Federal Government of Somalia signed the Financing Agreement of a €42 Million as part of EU contribution to Somalia Infrastructure Fund (SIF) after an event in Mogadishu.

The agreement was jointly signed by Minister of Planning of Somalia, Jamal Mohamed Hassan and EU ambassador to Somalia, Nicolas Berlanga.

Amb. Berlanga the new contribution will also construct or rehabilitate about 355km of key regional road network in Somalia.

He said improving roads in Somalia is a double-win, adding that it would not only save lives for the road users but also positively impact Somalia and improving economic growth.
