Ethiopian PM arrives in Khartoum

KHARTOUM, Sudan – Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, together with his delegation arrived in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum.

Mr. Abiy and his delegation were warmly welcomed upon arrival at the airport in Khartoum.

He is scheduled to have talks with the Chief of the Sudanese Transitional Military Council, Lt. Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.

Ethiopia PM Abiy Ahmed’s visit is described to be an effort to mediate between Sudan military leaders and protesters.

His visit comes a day after the African Union suspended Sudan membership following the shooting death of protesters.
