One man dead, two injured in shooting incident at hotel in Dublin
A fatal shooting at during a weigh-in for a boxing match in Dublin has been linked to a vicious gangland feud which has already claimed the life of the father of one of the boxers.
Jamie Kavanagh was weighing in for his bout tomorrow when two gunmen wearing police uniforms entered the Regency Airport Hotel on Dublin’s northside.
Kavanagh’s father was Gerard ‘Hatchet’ Kavanagh, who was lured to his death in Spain last April. He was an enforcer for Christy Kinahan, who is suspected of being one of Europe’s largest cocaine importers.
It is understood several members of a criminal gang linked to Dublin criminal ‘Fat’ Freddie Thompson were in the hotel watching the weigh-in when the gunmen opened fire.
The dead man is understood to be a relative of Thompson, who has been warned by Irish police that his life is in danger.
