Deadly suicide explosion kills six people in Somalia

MOGADISHU – At least six people have been killed and six others injured when a man wearing suicide vest detonated an armored military vehicle in Galkacyo town in central Somalia.

The bomber targeted a vehicle carrying Somali commander of joint security forces in Galkayo Colonel Abdihukun Abdullahi Horeye, and other officials, according to security officials.

Col. Horeye and 3 other officials were among those killed in the bomb explosion.

The victims were immediately taken into hospital for medical treatment.

Saturday’s explosion was claimed by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.

The group says it has been responsible for the bomb attack on army officials in the town of Galkacyo, leaving six people dead.
