MOGADISHU – Two drone strikes against Al Shabaab targets have killed several people in south and central of Somalia, according to residents.
First strike hit rebel held area near Elbur town, killing at least 11 Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab militants, according to a military official, who asked not to be named because, he was not authorized to speak on media.
The second air raid was carried out at Kanjaron area near the coastal town of Kismayo, leaving 4 people, including children dead, a resident, Mohamed Ali told Mareeg Online by phone.
It remains unclear who carried out the strikes, but US warplanes have been targeting Al Shabaab targets in south and central Somalia.
The Somali-based group of Al Shabaab has denied that any fighter of the group had been killed or injured in the raids.
The group says the strikes killed at least 10 civilian people, who were in Elbur and Kismayo town.
There was no immediate claims of the airstrikes happened in the last 24 hours in Somalia.
