Deadly mortar attack kills 3 people in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU – At least five mortar rounds have rained down on near African Union headquarters in Somali capital Mogadishu.

The rokets were inteded to target Halane camp in Mogadishu, largest AMISOM base in Somalia, also host several foreign embassies.

Leiban Mohamed, a witness says at least 3 people had been killed and five others injured after one of the 5 rockets landed their home in the city’s Wadajir area.

Mohamed says the two children were among the victims and being taken into hospitals in Mogadishu.

The mortar attack was immediately claimed by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group.

The group claimed to have targetd African Union mission in Somalia known as AMISOM camp in Somali capital Mogadishu.

There was no comment from AMISOM over the claims made by Al Shabaab.
