MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least 7 Islamic State (IS) fighters have been
killed in joint military offensive carried out by Somalia’s semi
autonomous state of Puntland forces in Qandala town.
The military offensive triggered deadly clash between Puntland forces
and Islamic State fighters in the town, according to Puntland military
officer Jim’ale Mohamed.
Mohamed says the operation against IS militants had been carried out
last night in Qandala, killing 7 militants and seized small weapons
from the Islamic State group during the fighting.
Mohamed added that its army forces would continue operations against
IS militants, until the group’s fighters are eradicated.
There was no immediate comment from the group over the claims.
