MOGADISHU, Somalia – Twin bomb explosions ripped through African Union armored personnel carrier in Somali capital Mogadishu.
The explosions went off on Wednesday when the African Union armored vehicle ran over bomb explosives concealed on the roadside, a witness said.
He says one African Union mission known as AMISOM vehicle was destroyed partially in the bomb attack.
The African Union troops sealed off at scene of the attack as sporadic gun shots could be heard.
It is unclear how many soldiers were killed in the explosions.
The al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab has claimed the responsibility for the bomb attacks through its website.
But, the group did not say how many were killed or injured in the attack.
The group has been fighting for more than ten years to topple the weak-western backed government of Somalia.
