Deadly explosion hits Ugandan soldiers in Barawe town

MOGADISHU –Roadside bomb explosion has on Wednesday targeted Ugandan armored personnel carrier in Barawe town, some 180km south of Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.

The explosion damaged the armored vehicle while travelling through the coastal town of Barawe, according to local residents.

The armed group of Al Shabaab claimed the responsibility for the bomb attack on one of the African Union peacekeepers’ vehicles.

The group says the explosion had killed at least 3 African Union peacekeepers from Uganda contingent.

There was no immediate comment from Uganda or African Union mission over the claims.
