MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least one soldier has been killed and two others wounded in roadside bomb explosion in north of Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.
The explosion ripped through a military vehicle near Balcad town, some 30km north of Mogadishu, leaving a soldier dead.
The soldiers on board were heading to Jowhar town, the capital of Middle Shabelle region, military officials said.
The victims were taken into hospital.
The attack was claimed by al Shabaab.
The group has carried out similar attacks for the last couple of months.
The al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab has been fighting to topple the weak-western backed government of Somalia.
