Somalia:Abandoned car explode near presidential palace in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least two people have been killed and two others injured on Thursday when a car bomb exploded near presidential palace in Somali capital Mogadishu.

A witness says car bomb exploded near a checkpoint close to presidential palace in the capital.

A suspect who may have parked the car on the side of the road is apprehended

Al Shabab, an Al Qaeda affiliate claimed the responsibility for Thursday’s explosion.

The group says it has killed 10 soldiers in the attack.

The attack comes a week after 30 people were killed in suicide and gun attack on hotel in Somali capital Mogadishu

The al Qaeda linked group has been fighting to topple the weak-western backed government of Somalia.
