MOGADISHU, Somalia – A roadside bomb explosion has ripped through an African Union peacekeeping armored vehicle near Baidoa town, some 250km south west of the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
The explosion targeted Ethiopian soldiers under African Union force in Somalia known as AMISOM while heading to Baidoa town, a witness said.
He says heavy bursts of gunfire could be head after the explosion.
But, al Shabaab mouthpiece said the explosion killed at least 5 African Union soldiers and some others wounded.
There was no immediate comment from the African Union mission over the claims.
