Al shabaab militants have claimed full responsibility for a car bomb explosion a mile away from the former security service’ Godka Jilacow prison in Somali capital, Mogadishu on Saturday.
A car filled with explosives material was leftin car at a parking lot belonging to Blue Sky restaurant near NISA prison, which is frequented by security force members.
Sheikh Abdiaziz Abu Musab, Al-Shabaab’s military operations spokesman, said the attack was aimed to kill senior NISA officers at the restaurant.
Godka Jilicow, is an underground jail, where militants are usually held for interrogation.
The blast was detonated remotely outside the restaurant, Mohamed Dahir, a security forces spokesman, told AFP news agency, adding that “information we have got so far indicates that two civilians were killed in the blast”.
Sources said the restaurant is frequented both by security personnel and civilians.
