MOGADISHU, Somalia – At least five people have been killed and several others sustained injuries in a suicide explosion in Somali capital Mogadishu.
An eyewitness said a suicide bomber detonated his explosives vest near a hotel at Lido beach in the capital, leaving five people dead.
There was no immediate responsibility for Friday’s explosion, but such attacks are often carried out by Al Shabab, an al Qaeda-linked group in Somalia.
Somalia has been plagued by insecurity for years, with the main threats emanating from al-Shabaab and the Daesh/ISIS terror groups.
