Bosaso: Somalia ends operation to secure hotel bombed by militants
Somali security forces have brought to an end a bomb and gun attack by militants on a village hotel that killed at least 6 people and wounded many more, officials said on Wednesday.
Islamist militant group to be al Shabaab or IS, attacked the hotel predawn and stormed killing security guards.
Two attackers were among the dead in the attack which ended with police shooting the assailants.
“Three well armed men attacked and fought hours in the hotel,” witness told Mareeg.com.
“So far we have confirmed 6 people, 4 soldiers and two assailants died,” said an official who talked local media.
“National security forces are in every floor, the last fighter on the top roof (was) shot dead” he added.
In October last year fighters aligned with the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) took control of a small town in Somalia’s semi-autonomous Puntland region.
