
MOGADISHU, Somalia – Roadside bomb explosion targeting government soldiers, has left 2 people dead in Somali capital Mogadishu.
Tuesday’s bomb blast went off near SOS junction in the city’s Hiliwaa district, killing a soldier and a driver of rickshaw, a witness said.
The bomb attack was reportedly aimed at targeting soldiers on board, according to a witness, who asked to be anonymous.
The blast also injured another soldier, who was taken into hospital.
Somali security forces arrived at scene of the bomb explosion and launched an operation over the Tuesday’s attack.
No arrest has been reported yet.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the explosion in Mogadishu.
But, such attacks are often carried out by Al Qaeda inspired group of Al Shabaab, battling the weak-western backed government of Somalia.
