Mareeg.com-The African Union Forces and the Somali army have on Friday seized Hudur town from Al shabab fighters.
The governor of Bakool region Mohamed Abdi said the peacekeepers from Ethiopia and the Somali army yesterday liberated the town from the militant group and that they were working on the security of the area.
“Once we confirm Hudur is secure enough, we are moving to the other areas under theur control.” the governor told local media.
Residents said there was fierce gun battle on the outskirts of the town before the Ethiopian army and the Somali forces entered. At least 10 soldiers were killed in the battle.
According to local sources a bomb planted inside the police station exploded as the joint forces seized the town. Reports of casualties could not be found yet.
