All 55 Aboard Survive After Plane Crash in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somali aviation authorities said all 55 passengers and crew survived after a Fokker 50 aircraft, registration 60-YAS, overran the runway at Aden Abdulle International Airport in Mogadishu.

The survivors were transported to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. No fatalities were reported.

Authorities said an investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.

Emergency responders, including personnel from the African Union and the United Nations, were swiftly deployed.

The AU mission said its head, Mouktar Osman Karie, accompanied by senior officers, visited the site and assisted rescue teams in the safe evacuation of passengers.
