Algeria and Somalia have requested an urgent UN Security Council meeting to address the consequences of Israel’s recent attacks on Syria.
The request followed consultations among Arab representatives in New York. The UN Security Council is expected to meet on Thursday, April 10.
The A3+ group—Algeria, Sierra Leone, and Somalia—along with Guyana, reaffirmed support for Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
These countries have consistently called for non-interference in Syria’s affairs and the immediate lifting of all sanctions.
Algeria’s UN Representative, Amar Benjamaa, stressed that Israeli airstrikes on Syrian military sites are worsening the country’s already fragile security situation.
