MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Islamist group Al Shabaab has released new photos of key town vacated by Kenyan army forces under African Union mission in Somalia.

The group says its fighters had taken control of Fahfahdhun town, after Kenyan forces suddenly pulled out on Saturday. It is the first town capture by the militants this year.

The African Union mission says Kenyan forces’ withdrawal is part of their plan to vacate number of frontline bases responding to UNSC call to reduce AMISOM forces in Somalia
