Al Shabaab attacks military base in Puntland

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali armed group al Shabaab militants carried out an attack on army base manned by regional state forces of Puntland.

The attack on Af Urur military base reportedly triggered fierce fighting between Puntland troops and Al Shabaab.

Radio Risala, a local FM reported that at least two soldiers were killed and three others injured during the assault.

Puntland military remains unavailable to comment on the attack.
