Somalia’s intelligence agency (NISA), supported by international allies, conducted an airstrike in Hiiraan targeting senior Al-Shabab members meeting in Aboorey village.
The operation killed eight militants involved in planning attacks on civilians, according to an official statement.
This strike is part of ongoing efforts by Somali forces and local militias to reclaim areas under Al-Shabab control.
Last week, NISA arrested two Al-Shabab operatives in Afgooye, including a senior extortion leader and an intelligence agent.
Authorities warned against paying Al-Shabaab extortion money, labeling it terrorism financing, and urged the public to report threats immediately.
