MOGADISHU, Somalia – A drone strike reportedly targeted an Al-Shabaab training camp Tuesday in central Somalia, leaving several militants wounded.
The airstrike hit the Dumaaye area of Harardhere district in southern Mudug, destroying a camp known as Sheikh Mohamed Ragge that was used by Al-Shabaab to train fighters.
Residents said several militants were also injured in the bombing.
The facility had previously been a religious center, but Al-Shabaab converted it into a militant training base after taking control. This marks the second strike on the camp since 2023.
Neither the Somali military nor Al-Shabaab has commented on the latest air raid in the region.
Since last month, Somali forces and international partners have intensified operations in southern and central Somalia, reclaiming key areas from the militant group.
