Heavy fighting erupted between Al Shabab militants and Somali army forces near Aden Yabal, in the Middle Shabelle region.
The clash began on Monday after heavily armed militants ambushed an army base in Bos-hareri, sparking a gunfire exchange.
Al Shabab claimed to have killed 19 soldiers and wounded 9 others, while also seizing 13 AK-47s during the fighting.
The group also released a three-minute video showing Monday’s fighting, captured weapons, and a burning water truck.
Somali military has yet to comment on the battle, the latest in a series of clashes in the region since last month.
Driven out of Mogadishu in 2011, Al-Shabaab continues to carry out deadly attacks.
For over a decade, the group has been battling to impose a hardline interpretation of Sharia law in Somalia.
