U.S.-trained Special Forces in Somalia, have reportedly killed more than 25 Al-Shabab militants near Afgoye town in Lower Shabelle region.
Among those killed were three senior Al-Shabab leaders in the operation carried out by Danab brigade in Gaalware village.
The Special Forces also seized four PKM rifles, two RPGs, and 17 AK-47 assault rifles, according to Ministry of Information.
The ministry said the Federal Government remains committed to defeating terrorism and maintaining security across Somalia.
There has been no response from Al-Shabab over Sunday’s deadly raid in Lower Shabelle region.
This follows a recent surge in Al-Shabab attacks in Hiran, Middle, and Lower Shabelle regions after military offensives stalled.
Despite being ousted from Mogadishu in 2011, Al-Shabab still carries out deadly ambushes and dawn attacks in south and central parts of Somalia.
