At least 18 Al Shabab militants were reportedly killed in an air raid carried out in the Hiran region in central Somalia.
According to a statement, Somali Intelligence Agency said the counter-terrorism operation was conducted in Mahab area in the region.
The agency said 18 militants were killed and two vehicles they intended to use for escape were also destroyed the bombing.
The operation is part of a campaign to eliminate threats posed by Al Shabab, according to the agency.
There was no immediate comment from Al Shabab over the claims.
Since March, Al Shabab has escalated attacks in efforts to reclaim cities it previously lost in Middle, Lower Shabelle and Hiran regions.
Driven out of Mogadishu in 2011, the group continues to carry out deadly attacks in south and central Somalia.
