New Somali police officers trained to enhance security in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali police says has prepared over a thousand newly trained and well-equipped police soldiers to enhance the overall security of the capital of Mogadishu.

The police command says up to 1400 new police soldiers would be deployed into the capital to secure the overall security of the capital, amid rising attacks by Al Shabaab.

Somali PM Hassan Ali Khaire says he attended the passing out parade of 1400 newly trained police officers, who will enhance security in the capital.

Mr. Khaire says the soldiers would be deployed into the capital in line with National Roadmap to Security and Justice

Somali capital, Mogadishu has witnessed deadly suicide attacks and assassinations, with some of those attacks were claimed by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab.

The group, which wants to topple the weak-western backed government based in Mogadishu still hold large swaths in south and central of Somalia.
