Somalia: President-elect takes over the power

The Somali President-elect Mohamed Abdulahi Farmajo has taken over the power from his predecessor Hassan Sheikh Mohamed on Thursday.

Former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud hands formally over the office to the new President in a ceremony observed by high-ranking officials, including Parliament Speaker Mohamed Osman Jawari.

The move comes ahead of his inauguration ceremony schedule to be held on February 22.

Mohamud who has been in power since September, 2012 has conceded defeat to his elected successor Farmajo in February 8, after ballot in the capital Mogadish.

Farmajo who has chosen as the ninth president of horn of African country on February 8, faces daunting tasks to in cope with as, insecurity corruption and war on the armed group of Al Shabaab.
