Somalia: Presidential Candidates given platform to speak to the MPs ahead of election

The second phase of delivering campaign speeches by the presidential hopefuls is underway in the Somali capital of Mogadishu on Saturday just before 4 days of Wednesday’sballot.

Each candidate vying for the country’s top office  will address jointly the Lower and Upper Houses about his campaign’s agenda for the coming four years and political background.

Former Puntland President, Abdirahman Mohamed Farole, and former Planning Minister Abdurrahman Abdishakur Warsame are among other key candidates addressing members of the Federal Parliament in a televised session from the Parliament Hall in Mogadishu.

The campaign speeches will continue until tomorrow, according to the Presidential Election Committee (PEC) tasked with overseeing the election of the new President.
