Somalia:European Union officials meet the
government and the opposition
Top EU officials, Hawiye clan elders, and TFG representatives and civil
society members have held a meeting at the international airport today
hoping to prompt a change in Somalia’s power-sharing agreement on Tuesday.
In the meeting which lasted more hours was to patch up the variance
views among the government and Hawiye clan elders.
Although it couldn’t officially known the outcome of the meeting however
some officials are saying' that the meeting was bringing together the
government and the opposition, mainly Hawiye clan elders
The main actors of that meeting were Somali prime minister and Hawiye
elders those momentously had a discussion on the opposite views among them.

Also the authorities from EU those consisted off six members have also
met with Somali president Abdullah Yusuf at the presidential palace in the
capital Mogadishu.
After the meeting ended EU officials have talked to the reporters at
Adan Adde international airport and they have declared that the two sides
have had comprehensive talks and have shown the positive views.
EU spokeswoman Elizabeth Barbier has told that EU will support Somalia’s
reconciliation plan and to deal with humanitarian situation in Somalia.
“We will not forget Somali people and the problems they are living in”
She said in a news conference.
She also declared that EU will economically support the government and
its reconciliation process.
AMISOM troops have been assigned to guard the premises of the meeting.
The delegates and Somalia’s information minister have lastly flown from
Adan Adde international airport to Kenya.
