Somali premier holds talks with Hawiye clan elders in the capital

The prime minister of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia, Nur Hassan Hussein, held a meeting with members of Hawiye Cultural and Unity Council led by its chairman, Muhammad Hasan Haad, at Mogadishu International Airport today.

Although the media was not permitted into the meeting venue, reports received from close sources have confirmed that the meeting is part of the prime minister's peace plan.

The prime minister recently announced that he will meet all opposition groups including the council.

This is the first meeting the prime minister has held with the Hawiye Cultural and Unity Council since his appointment.

The meeting follows after Premier Nur Adde earlier announced that the council was independent on its activities

No further comments could be available from the gathered sides.
